Wider Field of View

With > 50º FOV, Lumus’reflective waveguide technology enables immersive AR experiences.

Daylight Readable

Designed for outdoor use, Lumus delivers incredible brightness for outdoor, daytime usage.

Form Factor

For any given field of view, Lumus displays will always have smaller dimensions than those of other solutions.

True See-through

Our optics produce almost no distortions allowing the world outside to shine through.

True Colors

Projecting all colors simultaneously within our waveguide delivers unparalelled bright, vivid content.

Lumus Vision

Lumus aims to power the world’s migration from mobile phone screens and laptop monitors to transparent, wearable displays.

Our unique waveguides offer advantages to make this transition a reality. Lumus reflective waveguides have already enabled some of the most mission-critical military and medical augmented reality hardware in the world.

Our mission is to design and develop the most important display technology the world has ever seen. The future is looking up. And the future is now!

Manufacturing

Our focus as a company is to design and develop the world’s best performing waveguide-based optics in the market. Equally important is our focus on mass manufacturability of our technology. Over the past several years, Lumus has developed optimal supply chain partners like Quanta Computer and SCHOTT whom we have co-developed the production processes of our 2D expansion waveguides.

Our manufacturing processes use standard machinery and standard materials that have been used by the optics industry for more than 100 years.

Optical Engines

Lumus’ core intellectual property includes all modules of the optical engines; the patented reflective waveguide – an ultra-thin lens embedded with the multiple partially reflective mirrors in a single substrate, and a miniature projector. The projector itself is comprised of a micro-display (LCoS, OLED, Laser or Micro-LED) that generates the virtual image and a collimating optics module that collimates the image toward the waveguide’s entrance aperture.

From the projector, the image travels through the waveguide via Total Internal Reflection (TIR). Our manufacturing processes use standard machinery and standard materials that have been used by the optics industry for more than 100 years.

Reflective Waveguides

The Gold Standard of Waveguide Technology

Waveguides are the critical “last mile” for smartglasses and head-mounted displays. The light is guided towards reflective mirrors, which reflect the light out of the waveguide to the user’s eyes. Using mirrors – the simplest optical element – offers multiple advantages over diffractive waveguides:

  • The industry’s highest quality image
  • The best luminance efficiency of any waveguide technology
  • The highest brightness in the industry – up to 10X more than competing waveguides
  • The Best Color uniformity (allowing for a true white background)

Products using reflective waveguides require less battery power – period. With recent 2D pupil expansion waveguides Lumus can also offer a form factor that matches the needs of the consumer market – natural looking designer eyewear.
